There certainly is some degree of comfort in the idea the one's deceased loved one(s) goes immediately into Heaven. But, not so much that would negate the overwhelming scriptural proof of the "Hadean realm", that is the place of disembodied spirits.
Funerals today are now called "Homegoing" celebrations, where eulogizers preach the deceased right in through the pearly gates. This is increasingly common. But, what does the Bible have to say?
Jesus DESCENDED into the grave: "For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." Matt. 12:40 and "Jesus saith unto her, Touch Me not; for I am not yet ascended to My Father: but go to My brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto My Father, and your Father; and to My God, and your God. " Jn. 20:17. See also Rom. 10:7.
David has NOT ascended into Heaven: "For David is not ascended into the heavens" Acts 2:34
1st Century saints describes as "asleep": "he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep." 1 Cor. 15:6 and "For this we say unto you by the Word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep." 2 Thess. 4:14-15
At the Lord's return, the dead will rise from their graves: "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear His voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation." Jn. 5:28-29
These are just a few of many, MANY more scriptural references which CLEARLY show that NO ONE goes directly to Heaven at the point of death.
